One hectare of forest absorbs up to 3,600 kg of carbon annually, which is more or less the amount emitted by 200 people per hour . One hectare of forest produces about 700 kilograms of oxygen per 24 hours. This satisfies the daily demand of 2,500 people. The trees that provide the largest amounts of oxygen include: Common beech (1.1 kg), Maple (1.1 kg), Locust (1. 1 kg), oak (0.8 kg).
